Who drove the buzz -- Super Hero Batman or Super Actor Heath Ledger?
Batman sequel “The Dark Knight” is proving to be this year’s summer blockbuster movie, breaking box-office records as fans flocked to opening weekend premieres. The buzz around the movie leading up to the opening included anticipation of the late Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker, which bloggers agree is worthy of an Oscar nomination. After seeing the movie last weekend, he has my vote.
As reflected in the blogpulse chart below, post-premiere buzz for “The Dark Knight” was triple that of 2008’s other comic-book movie “Iron Man” and adventure flick “Indiana Jones”, accounting for 1.3% of total consumer discussion on July 18th, the day the film premiered. “The Dark Knight” has set a buzz standard for the movie industry to live up to for years to come.
