Dear World, Meet "Everyblog"

If Everyman is an allegory for the human race, bloggers today herald the seeming arrival of Everyblog. Leaky politicians, teen sexuality, dirt-dishing nannies, storybook ooompah loompahs....the entire spectrum of humankind (real and imagined) seems to be represented in today's blog results.

Leaky politicians
Can I nominate Frank Rich for president? As Beltway politicians and journalists debate who leaked whose name to whom, The New York Times media writer seems to be the only person capable of looking at the big picture in today's No. 3 link to his Sunday "Follow the Uranium"column. CommonSenseDesk blogger says Rich is correct to call the focus on the leaks a MacGuffin -- a diversion. TalkingPointsMemo has some insights as well, while blooger Ron James calls it a "tactical retreat?" The Washington Post version of the Rove-Plame story takes a different approach (No. 9 link)

Should we care?
Two other New York Times columns attract plenty of blog traffic today, including Helaine Olen's Sunday column "The New Nanny Diaries Are Online" (No. 10 link), which the SWRU blogger feels is further proof that the mainstream media still doesn't "get" blogging. That blog also features a link to the nanny's response blog. The second Times article covers the fallout from a single blog entry by a gay teen from Tenneessee named Zach,(No. 26 link), and A Typical Joe has some thoughts about ongoing debates on gay issues and Christianity.

Harry vs. Willy = Harry
In the weekend showdown of storybook characters Harry Potter vs. Willy Wonka, Harry wins handily.
